2022 Kia Stinger vs. 2022 BMW 4 SERIES GRAN COUPE
If you’re looking for a luxury sports sedan, the 2022 Kia Stinger and the 2022 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe are must-see considerations. Let’s see how these two powerhouse vehicles stack up. In one corner, the Korean “movement that inspires” Kia pitted against German-built “ultimate driving machine” from BMW.
2022 KIA STINGER
The 2022 Kia Stinger boasts an elegant fastback design reminiscent of the great old European Grand tourers with a well-executed modern and aggressive grille and body lines. The Stinger is loaded with Standard safety features that make it an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus, the highest possible honor for safety. The Stinger features more standard Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Stingers come in 2 powertrain configurations; GT-line which has the standard 2.5L turbo and GT with the 3.3L twin-turbo. All Stinger trim levels; GT-line, GT1, and GT2 received a power upgrade for the ‘22 model year, most notably in the GT-Line base model which now delivers 300HP and 311lb of torque, up a staggering 45hp from the outgoing base engine. The GT1 and GT2 trims retain the same 3.3L twin-turbo engine, now tuned to 368HP.
Step inside the Stinger and you’ll quickly realize that excellent performance does not come at the cost of lower practicality. With 42.6 inches of front-seat legroom and a generous 36.4 inches of rear passenger legroom, 4 adults can very comfortably enjoy the ride inside this stylish and capable sports sedan. Adaptive AWD is available on all three trims as an optional add-on. A Harmon Kardon audio system with surround sound is of the highest quality. and the GT2 is available in a Scorpion Special Edition. Optional AWD drive rounds out the main features.

2022 BMW GRAN COUPE
The 2022 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe presents an elegant, fastback-like profile with a dramatic sweeping rear roofline with attractive side vents and modern and aggressive lighting signatures in both front and back. The large kidney-shaped grille is distinct but controversial even among BMW diehards. Offering three trims, the 430i and 430i xDrive (BMW’s adaptive AWD system), and the M440i xDrive. The lower two trims offer a similar turbocharged 4-cylinder to the base Stinger though only puts out 248HP and 258lb. of torque. The performance-focused M440i xDrive houses a 3.0L turbocharged straight-6 engine mated to a hybrid-electric system that belts out an impressive 382hp and 369 lb. ft. of torque. The Gran Coupe comes standard with autonomous braking and blind-spot warning but requires the addition of the Driving Assistance Professional package for adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, all of which are standard on the Stinger. The Gran Coupe has not earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick award. The interior of the Gran Coupe is predictably well-appointed and boasts many premium materials throughout the cabin. Comfortable front seats offer 41.8 inches of legroom while rear-seat passengers may find a snug ride. The raked roofline leaves only 35.2 inches of headroom and a so-so 34.5 inches of legroom.
The BMW Gran Coupe is a fine car, but with a savings of at least $9,000, stellar safety ratings, and a more practical and spacious interior, the 2022 Kia Stinger’s value proposition is hard to beat.
