April is National Car Care Month
April is a great time to get your car road trip ready for summer fun and adventure. The Car Care Council sponsors, National Car Care Month in April and October, to encourage drivers to keep their cars safe for the road. The Council recently conducted a study that revealed that “80% of vehicles need service, a new part and/or repair”. Although we don’t have extreme winters in Charleston, it is still a good idea to have a spring check-up. Proper and consistent maintenance will save you money in the long run, preserve your car’s value and keep you safe on the road.
Spring is a good time to focus attention on automotive maintenance and repair. Spring rains may mean driving on wet slippery roads, so it’s important to have your tires, brakes and windshield wipers checked. You are likely to use your windshield wipers and windshield wiper fluid twice as much during the spring pollen and rain season so make sure your wipers are in good condition and your fluid is full.
You will also want to have your cabin air filter checked as the heavy pollen season may make it dirty or clogged. In fact, cars don’t like it any more than allergy sufferers do. If you missed it, check out our recent blog post Pollen Protection for your Car or any of our other automotive care related blog posts.
You may also wish to consider purchasing a sunshade to protect your car’s interior or a sport visor to allow you to keep your windows open or cracked when it’s raining. Our Parts and Accessories Department has many practical and fun add-ons for your vehicle.
In honor of National Car Care Month the Kia Country Parts and Service staff has recorded short video tips on how to care for your car and how to check everything from tire pressure to transmission fluid. We’ll be posting them on Facebook and our YouTube channel.
