How To: Care for Your Car in Warmer Weather
Warmer weather is here. Charleston Kia wants to make sure you’re prepared and your vehicle is operating at peak performance. Here are some tips that you can easily do to help maintain your car.
Check Tire Pressure
Look for signs of over-inflated or under-inflated tires. Optimal pressure can prevent flat tires and blowouts which are no fun; especially when you’re going on a road trip. Need help on how to check your tire PSI? Watch our video or visit this blog for assistance.
Top-Off Engine Fluids
Car fluids can thin or possibly evaporate in warmer temperatures. Be sure to top off your transmission fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, and windshield wiper fluid. Learn more here.
Test Your Brakes
Other than the obvious poor stopping/braking performance, you’ll want to make sure you don’t hear any squealing or growling sounds when testing your brakes. If you do experience these signs, it’s time to get an inspection performed to solve the problem. Always perform your brake tests in a safe environment without any cars around in case something goes wrong.
Replace Your Windshield Wipers
We like to make sure your wipers are in good condition for those rainy months and have better visibility when trying to clean your windshield leftover from pollen, dust, etc. Take a look at the helpful tips in this video.
Clean Your Car
Clean car, clean mind. Hot temps can melt plastics and other trash left in your car which could cost you. Keeping the outside of your car clean can protect the paint from the sun as well as any damage caused by birds, insects, tar, etc.
Park in the Shade
Keeping it cool will help the exterior and interior of your car stay in great condition.
