How to Remove Sticky Summer Sweets from your Car
How do you remove sticky, summer sweets stains from your car? You know the ones we mean—ice cream, popsicles, snowballs and things like that. In an ideal world, we would not eat or drink in our cars because the potential for spills, stains and smells is high. In reality if you are on a road trip or have kids, you will likely capitulate to cool treats.
If you are lucky enough to have leather seats, you may be able to wipe up the mess. If you have cloth upholstery or have a carpet spill, you need to take action.
Blot the stain with a microfiber towel. Do not rub or push the stain into the fabric. Apply a high quality fabric cleaner or make your own. Mix a capful of diluted vinegar and a capful of dish soap in spray bottle filled with water. Spray let it sit for a minute and agitate with a brush to lift stain. Blot again with microfiber towel.
This should address most stains especially if you address spills as they occur. If you are unable to remove a stain, do not risk damaging your upholstery or carpet. Take your car to a professional detailer.
