The Future is Electric

Kia is staking its future on electric vehicles. The 2020 Kia Niro EV, a compact SUV will be the first electric vehicle to be offered in Charleston.

The Niro EV features a 239-mile range battery, spacious cargo, versatile charging options, and driver-assist technologies. It can be charged at home in a standard outlet. It can reach an 80% charge capacity within 1 hour. The Niro EV has a starting MSRP of $39,090.

The Kia Niro PHEV, a plug-in hybrid will also go on sale nationwide shortly. Until now, Niro PHEV has only been available in limited areas.  The Niro PHEV bridges the gap between hybrid and fully electric vehicles and may offer benefits such as tax rebates and HOV access. The Niro PHEV has a starting MSRP of $29,590.

In addition, the Kia EV6 will go on sale as a limited edition on JUNE 3rd.  there will be 1500 special edition EV6s available for early order.  Production is planned to begin in the winter and expected to be in dealerships in January-February 2022.  It is said to feature over 300-mile range, ultra-fast charging, and a GT model that will go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds.  It is also rumored to be made largely of recycled plastics and has a vegan interior.

The EV6 will be the first vehicle to use Kia’s EV platform (E-GMP). Kia’s new nomenclature and design philosophy embody Kia’s shifting focus towards electrification. EV6 is the first of the future models to be built on a universal platform that can be used as a jumping-off point for other configurations and types of EV products.
