Kia Stinger Steals Spotlight at NAIAS
Kia Motors America (KMA) stole the spotlight at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) this week with the world debut of the 2018 Kia Stinger. Understandably, NAIAS is typically dominated by American automakers, but Kia put a stake in the ground with its five passenger fastback sports sedan designed to compete with European heavyweights, Audi A4/A5/S5 Sportback, BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe and BMW 3-Series and Mercedes C-Class.
Based on the GT concept, Kia unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Stinger was designed in Germany under the direction of Kia Motor’s Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer and Kia Motors Europe, Chief Designer Gregory Guillaume.
The Stinger awed NAIAS attendees, the automotive press and was honored with the coveted EyesOn Design Award for Production Design Excellence.
