Why a Fuel System Service
March 28 2019

A fuel system service will help to maximize engine performance. A fuel pump forces gas through the fuel lines. It then flows to the fuel rail, which distributes it to the injectors into the engine, where the valves and pistons are located. As the fuel is sprayed into the engine, the spark plugs ignite the fuel, which creates the combustion to power your car. Over time, carbon can build up on the valves and piston heads.

The cleaning is a three-step process. First, we use air pressure to push cleaner through the injectors to soften carbon buildup, which allows it to burn off through the exhaust system. Secondly, the throttle body is manually cleaned with brushes, and finally, an additive is mixed with the gasoline.

Most new vehicles have a gas direct injection (GDI) engine that does not have the old-style fuel injectors. There is no throttle body to clean, and no additive is used. A foam cleaner is injected to clean carbon deposits from the pistons and valves.

A fuel system cleaning every 30K miles will maximize engine performance and fuel efficiency. During Car Care Month in April, you can get a fuel system service for only $109.95.
